We journeyed south from Essaouira down the beach to the ruins of Borj el Baroud.
On Shadae: top by Zara and backpack by Tumi

The structure was built to be a watchtower that also stored gunpowder.

The broken artifact is now one of many along the beach that give the coast of Essaouira its character.

Most of the time the ruins lay submerged beneath the waves.

As the the sun retreated into the horizon, so did the ocean revealing the form of this ancient geometric beauty.
